The Mayor's Commission on Reparations was officially seated in May 2023. Its charge is to study and make recommendations to the City of Kansas City on reparatory justice for harmful and discriminatory policies and practices against the African American/Black community.
The establishment of this Commission represents a historic commitment by Kansas City to address centuries of systemic harm and work toward meaningful repair for the Black community.

Holding institutions accountable and ensuring the Commission's recommendations are implemented with integrity.
